Welcome to the Home of the Whippets

We are Kosciusko Lower Elementary School serving students in prekindergarten through first grade in Attala County, Mississippi.

At Lower Elementary, we want to foster a love of learning in every student we are privileged to serve. We want to partner with you, our parents and community members, to provide the support and resources needed to nourish the minds of our children as they grow into constructive members of the community.

Our School

Education has always been the door to democracy. We, as a school system, look forward to developing a new generation of community members who will continue Kosciusko’s tradition of peace and community cooperation. We are situated in Attala County and enjoy a rich history dating back to the 1700s. Our town has been a haven for travelers, traders, and settlers alike. Now we are working to prepare our students for a technologically driven society without losing sight of the traditions of their heritage.

At Lower Elementary, we are building a foundation of learning. Serving 412 students in prekindergarten through first grade, we have proudly maintained a level 5 accreditation in the state of Mississippi over the past three years! Our goal is to provide challenging and rewarding learning experiences for each of our students with opportunities for intellectual stimulation, self-realization, and physical and emotional growth. We want our students to be prepared to creatively contribute to their community and our society at large

We Hire Great Teachers

To maintain our mission, Lower Elementary only hires great teachers who are committed to their own continued education; teachers who are willing and excited to learn new teaching techniques and employ best practices in the classroom. We encourage community and parental involvement with two-way communication, and we continuously strive to create a safe learning environment in which your child will flourish.
